Mississippi police are searching for a ‘very, very dangerous’ killer who escaped from prison on Christmas Eve.

Drew Johnson, 33, escaped from the South Mississippi Correctional Institution on Tuesday, according to the George County Sheriff’s Office.

‘He will be desperate and very, very dangerous. Call your family and alert them. Send messages to them and get responses,’ said the Sheriff’s Office in a Facebook post

Johnson was serving a life sentence for the 2016 murder of 25-year-old Calvin Holloway Jr., who was shot

Friends said Holloway left to help a friend who was stranded at 3:45 in the morning and never returned.

His Chevrolet truck was found abandoned in Memphis, five miles from where police found his body, according to the Clarion Ledger

Holloway had met with Johnson in southwest Memphis.

His body was found with multiple stab wounds in that area four days after he was reported missing in April 2016.

An accessory to Holloway’s murder, Rebecca Allison was indicted on a charge of accessory for helping Johnson.

It remains unclear if she is still in prison.

According to an arrest affidavit, Allison told detectives that she had knowledge of Holloway’s death.

She admitted to being in Holloway’s truck and helping to wipe it down after he was killed, reported the outlet.

Johnson also pled guilty to striking and killing a fellow prisoner in the head with a brick and setting fire to the jail on two occasions.

He was charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, and two counts of aggravated arson in 2022.

‘People tend to be more generous during Christmas and let their guard down. Be vigilant and be careful,’ the Sheriff’s Office said.

In addition to the murder conviction, Johnson has a long criminal history in other states.

The prison he escaped from sits in southwest Mississippi, not far from the Alabama state line.

Police are urging the public not to engage with him if they see him, and to alert the authorities instead.
