Tom Cruise surprises Timothee Chalamet and Elle Fanning at London screening of Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown
Tom Cruise paid Timothee Chalamet and Elle Fanning a surprise visit at the screening of his upcoming Bob Dylan biopic, A Complete Unknown, in London on Tuesday.
The Mission: Impossible star, 62, joined Kylie Jenner’s boyfriend, 28, at the Ham Yard Hotel for the UK Awards presentation of Searchlight Pictures’ new flick about the legendary singer-songwriter.
Cruise — who previously wrote Chalamet an ‘inspiring email’ — dropped in at the event and was pictured posing with the young leading man.
The Hollywood legend shook Chalamet’s hand and later pointed at him like a proud mentor, while holding one arm around his shoulder.
The action superstar showed off his effortless style in a navy button-up, blue jeans and black boots.
Meanwhile the Dune actor — who stars as Dylan in the film — rocked a striped long-sleeve shirt, black jeans and a mustache.

While at the event Tom also surprised Elle, who stars as Sylvie Russo, and she looked chic in a black blazer, leggings and knee-high boots
The duo also posed for group shots with the rest of the cast, including Monica Barbaro, Elle Fanning and director James Mangold.

Cruise has been a champion of Chalamet’s rise to fame, and even once wrote him an ‘inspiring’ email that was ‘like a war cry’.
Last year Chalamet revealed the advice he was given by the Hollywood icon, as he graced the cover of British GQ Magazine‘s November issue.
The actor shared that the Top Gun star sent him a ‘wonderfully inspiring’ message with a list of experts he could use for stunt training.
Chalamet added that Cruise, who is famous for doing his own stunts in films, told him that it was ‘up to him’ to learn those skills to progress further in his career.
He said: ‘After I met Tom Cruise, right after finishing the first Dune, he sent me the most wonderfully inspiring email,’ adding it included a Rolodex of sorts of all the experts he might need for stunt training, including a motorcycle coach and helicopter coach.

Chalamet’s performance as Dylan has been dubbed as ‘electrifying’ by critics; he is seen in a still from the film
‘He basically said, in Old Hollywood, you would be getting dance training and fight training, and nobody is going to hold you to that standard today. So it’s up to you. The email was really like a war cry,’ Chalamet added.
Chalamet went on to reveal his admiration for Cruise, sharing that he went to see Tom’s critically-acclaimed sequel Top Gun: Maverick eight times.
He also said that he even hired out a cinema in Budapest and took the entire cast and crew of Dune to see it.
‘Top Gun was just hugely inspiring to me last summer when we were making Dune. Some of the crew were kind of scoffing at going, but I just thought it was one of the greatest films I’ve ever seen,’ the star added.
Chalamet’s latest performance as Dylan has been dubbed as ‘electrifying’ by critics.
The Oscar nominee, who did not have any face time with the Like A Rolling Stone hitmaker, 83, prior to playing him, has been praised for saving the film, despite its flaws.
The movie focuses on Dylan’s early career, his transition from folk to rock, and his iconic performance at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival.
The Daily Mail’s Brian Viner said: ‘Director and co-writer Mangold has crafted an absorbing film, which focuses on those few pivotal years between Dylan’s arrival in New York City in 1961 as an anonymous teenage troubadour from Minnesota.’

He later continues: ‘But A Complete Unknown is a triumph, all the same, entertainingly reminding us that, love him or hate him, Dylan remains one of the most influential musicians of the last 70 years. And that Chalamet, aged 28, is much more than a pretty face.’
‘It has many similar strengths [as Walk the Line] but different weaknesses, though Timothée Chalamet’s electrifying – in every sense – lead performance is not among the latter,’ wrote David Rooney from The Hollywood Reporter.
Rooney added that ‘neither the movie nor the actor sugarcoat the abrasiveness of a creative genius whose insensitivity toward people close to him often stands in stark contrast to the humanity in his songs.’
