The Holiday has been called out for another glaring and hilarious plot hole.

The beloved 2006 movie sees chronically unlucky in love Amanda (Cameron Diaz) plan a house swap and spend the holidays in a cute country cottage in the UK, which belongs to journalist Iris (Kate Winslet).

Surrey-based Iris ditches her picturesque English home for Amanda’s LA mansion and both lovelorn women are swept off their feet with an exciting new romance when they meet Graham and Miles.

However, after an array gaffes and impractical timelines from the film were unveiled during the festive season, fans have realized another bizarre detail – which involves Winslet’s scenic drive from LAX to Beverly Hills.

In the scene shared by TikToker Camberapp , Iris’ cab is seen driving alongside the ocean on the Pacific Coast Highway as she takes in the sunshine, beach views and palm trees -which was mocked by LA natives.

A video showing the moment was captioned: ‘Me trying to figure out why Kate Winslet’s character in The Holiday is going south down PCH to get from the airport to Beverly Hills.’

One fan wrote: ‘She fly into Burbank? Or getting her directions from Party in the USA? 

Others wrote: ‘lol best part of living in LA is watching all the movies absolutely in awe how they jump around the city in less than an hour.

‘It’s giving Miley seeing the Hollywood sign leaving LAX.’ 

‘Or in La La Land when they meet up at the studio lot in Burbank and the next scene they’re at the jazz club in Hermosa?? Where’s the scene of them fighting for their lives in traffic for 2 hours between the 101 and 405??

Last month Jude Law burst the bubble when he spilled filming secrets from his Christmas classic The Holiday on BBC Radio 2 with host Zoe Ball and comedian Kerry Godliman on Friday.

Last month Jude Law ‘burst the bubble’ when he spilled filming secrets from his Christmas classic The Holiday on BBC Radio 2 and revealed Rosehill Cottage [pictured above] never existed

‘So, we were shooting in the winter here and every time I go in that door, we cut and we shot the interiors in LA about three months later’, Jude revealed (pictured with Cameron) 

Rosehill Cottage became somewhat of a phenomenon after the film was released, with fans calling it the perfect English dream home for Christmas

Cameron’s character chose the cottage, bedroom interior pictured, as an escape from her fast-paced life in the US 

Speaking about the picturesque cottage where Amanda holidays, Kerry asked: ‘Can you Airbnb that cottage?’, while Zoe replied: ‘I think so’, Jude told them the truth. 

‘That cottage doesn’t exist. So the director, she’s a bit of a perfectionist, toured that whole area and didn’t quite find the chocolate box cottage she was looking for,’ he revealed. 

‘So she just hired a field and drew it and had someone build it. But here’s the funny thing if you watch it.

So, we were shooting in the winter here and every time I go in that door, we cut and we shot the interiors in LA about three months later.’

Stunned, Zoe said: ‘We don’t want to hear anymore. We can’t bear it’, while Kerry added: ‘That’s very upsetting’. 

Looking sheepish, Jude replied: ‘Just burst the bubble, sorry.’

Despite Rosehill Cottage not being real, the cast did film in the Surrey villages of Shere and Godalming. 

The Honeysuckle Cottage in Holmbury St Mary, which was put up for sale in 2021 and now an Airbnb, provided the inspiration for the crew who designed it. 

Rosehill Cottage became somewhat of a phenomenon after the film was released, with fans calling it the perfect English dream home for Christmas. 

While the exterior was lightly dusted in snow, the inside had a roll top bath and a shabby chic kitchen.  

Back in June, Jude confirmed he would be up for starring in a sequel of The Holiday. 

Speaking to E! News at the New York City’s Tribeca Festival, Jude said: ‘I love the idea.’

Although he admitted he would have to ask director and writer Nancy Meyers first, he added: ‘Why not?’

Graham is father to children Olivia and Sophie, played by Miffy Englefield and Emma Pritchard. 

Back in June, Jude confirmed he would be up for starring in a sequel of The Holiday

Graham’s daughter’s also fall in love with Amanda as they accept her into their family.

Despite his on screen daughters being grown up now, Jude believes the plot could still be revisited as he added that he doesn’t believe his character will have changed much.

‘I think Graham still has cardigans and glasses, and reads,’ he joked. ‘He’s probably worried sick about the girls, right? The daughters will be 28, 29.’
