A man has been charged after an eight-year-old girl was allegedly abducted, sparking a urgent Amber Alert.

The girl was allegedly taken by the 44-year-old man from a Child Safety Service Centre in Maroochydore, on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, at 10.45am on Thursday.

She was found ‘safe and well’ at a property in Eerwah Vale, 33km northwest of the Sunshine Coast, at 6pm the same day.

The Coolum Beach man has since been charged with child stealing and trespassing.

Police allege the man is known to the girl.

Queens Police Detective Acting Inspector Scott Wiggins told reporters the girl ‘may be at risk of harm’ hours before she was found.

The man is due to appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Friday.
