A Los Angeles couple have shared video showing their heart-stopping escape from the wildfires still blazing across the city.

Jeffrey and Cheryll Ku narrowly escaped with their lives when the Eaton Fire began closing in on their $1.4 million Pasadena home.

The couple grabbed some essential belongings and fled in their car, preparing to say goodbye to their home forever.

Terrifying footage captured on their Ring doorbell camera and cellphone documented their death-defying escape which Jeffrey described as, ’34 minutes of terror’.

‘It was a nightmare,’ he told ABC7. ‘Every moment I went into the house and out of the house it was surreal. I think the worst part was every time I checked on the fire it got worse.’

‘The moment it set in, this is not like other fires,’ his wife added. ‘This is the worst I’ve ever seen.’

The clip begins with a frantic Cheryll imploring her husband to come out and see the flames.

It then pans to the apocalyptic scene of the flames roaring high up on a nearby hillside.

‘Oh my God,’ Jeffrey is heard exclaiming, ‘No!’

The footage skips forward a few minutes to show the progression of the blaze and thick clouds of smoke billowing over head.

Their Ring camera then shows Jeffrey frantically carrying a washing basket full of possessions into the car.

As he sprints back into the home, embers can be seen flying past the camera.

In another emotional moment, Jeffrey is heard saying goodbye to his property as he reverses out of the driveway.

As he pulls away, his home is seen silhouetted against the blood red sky.

‘I remember saying goodbye to our home as I backed out of our driveway for what I thought would be the last time I would ever see our home again,’ he said in a post.

Miraculously, the couple’s home survived the devastation, however neighbors who lost ‘everything’ were not so lucky.

The couple were among the tens of thousands of people who were forced to evacuate their homes due to the devastating wildfires.

So far the blazes have claimed the lives of 24 people, but the death toll is expected to rise.

More than 12,000 structures have been destroyed with many more at risk as the fires continue to burn.

As of Tuesday morning, the Eaton Fire had burned 14,117 acres and was just 35 percent contained.
