A woman left her dog in her car for a few minutes and found a stranger in the middle of an ‘unacceptable’ act when she returned… now footage of her response has divided Aussies
Aussies are divided over who is in the wrong after a dog owner got into a heated exchange with a woman who reportedly tried to pet her Staffy.
Rea Luketic left her dog in her car for a few minutes while she collected a package at a Kmart in Belmont, in Geelong in Victoria’s south.
When Ms Luketic returned to her car she claimed to have found the woman and her teenage daughter reaching inside her car to ‘pat and say hello’ to her dog.
She asked the pair to step away from the car and explained why she believed the behaviour was ‘unacceptable’ – prompting the woman to threaten to take the dog.
‘I’ll take your f*****g dog next time you try your s**t with me, b***h,’ the woman replied in footage of the altercation shared to social media.
‘Try it, give it a go… see what f**king happens,’ Ms Luketic hit back.
The woman then ordered Ms Luketic to ‘get in your f*****g car’ and asked if she intended to take the footage to the ‘police man’.
‘No… I’ll sort it out myself,’ the pet owner replied.
Ms Luketic asked the woman whether her behaviour was a good example for her daughter, who appeared to be sitting in a parked car nearby.
‘She actually knows more than you do, so f**k off,’ the woman said.
‘Looks like learning doesn’t run in the family aye,’ Ms Luketic hit back.
Aussies were divided over who was in the wrong.
‘They had no right to go near your car or your property, this lady’s behaviour is atrocious. I’m sorry that happened to you, you handled it well,’ one viewer wrote.
‘The dog had fresh air with the windows down a bit and you were only running into the shop quickly then I don’t see a problem, some people need to mind their business, different story if all the windows were up and the dog was cooking in the car and you took ages shopping, then I’d be angry as well,’ a second said.
‘Well done for staying calm and standing your ground,’ a third wrote.
But others said the woman who pet the dog had done nothing wrong.

‘You don’t deserve dogs mate! Barking up the wrong tree posting her on your page I’d take your dog too,’ one said.
‘Maybe she went the wrong way about it but she isn’t wrong… don’t leave your dog in the car,’ a second wrote.
‘Why was your dog left in the car during summer?’ a third agreed.
‘She was probably trying to do the right thing and make sure the dog was ok while you were shopping,’ a fourth said. .
Ms Luketic said she only left her Staffy in her car for around four minutes and the windows had been wound down.
‘This issue was less about heat, more about not putting her hands into my car to touch the dog,’ Ms Luketic said.
Leaving an animal in a vehicle for more than 10 minutes when the temperature is 28C or more is illegal in Victoria.
Pet owners are advised that their pets can be seriously injured or die if they are kept in a hot vehicle even if the windows are down or the car is parked in the shade.
If a dog appears to be in distress, witnesses are urged to contact Victoria Police.
